Changelog
Rendered from released sections of the engineering changelog, 2026-09-24
This page shows every released version of Tessen, in plain language. Our internal engineering log records far more detail than a customer needs — ticket IDs, file paths, hashes, and the reasoning behind each fix. Every entry below is a faithful, non-inventive summary of a real entry from that log; nothing here is added that the log does not already say.
Method: a version appears here only once it is the one actually shipping
— anything still marked Unreleased in the source log never appears on
this page, and never will until it ships. The current shipping version is
2.0.6.
2.0.5
Released 2026-09-18
- Free plan raised from 1,000 to 2,000 words a week.
- Licences now self-renew automatically, and a trial converts to a paid plan the moment payment lands — no manual step. A “Refresh licence” button and a trial-ending notice were added to the Hub.
- Fixed: a refunded licence could no longer be used to start a new free trial.
- Fixed: vocabulary packs were silently loading zero terms without a Pro entitlement while the Hub's toggles still showed them as on. The Hub and CLI now report the real, effective state.
- Fixed: the word “rest” was being auto-corrected into an acronym by the vocabulary system. Homograph handling was improved sitewide.
- Checkout now shows the price including tax, so the number you see is the number you're charged.
- Dictation history is no longer deleted on a timer — you control when it's removed.
- Hub Overview redesigned: a full-width layout with an activity map and lifetime stats.
2.0.4
Released 2026-09-09 — security and licensing release
- Licence signing moved to a delegated-key design, so the offline root signing key never has to be stored on any server.
- Subscriptions now renew automatically instead of silently expiring while still being charged.
- Refunds and chargebacks are now recorded automatically instead of going unnoticed.
- Hardened a clock-rollback edge case found in a routine internal security review.
2.0.3
Released 2026-09-08 — security release
- Purchased licences are now bound to the Mac that activates them, closing a gap where one licence file could be copied to unlimited machines.
- File transcription now correctly checks your licence — it previously bypassed licensing entirely.
- Closed three access-control bypasses found in the trial and licence engine during a dedicated security review.
- Removed the permanent free-tier fallback after a trial ends (a deliberate product decision, not a bug fix) — the Free plan and paid plans are the two ways to keep dictating.
- Stripe checkout now automatically issues your licence key.
2.0.2
Released 2026-09-02 (build 202)
- Fixed several dead “Fix” buttons on the Hub's permission rows, and added a working “Grant All Permissions” action.
- Your personal dictionary is now used during file transcription, not just live dictation.
- Added a row showing whether macOS's own Dictation is enabled, and made update checks build-aware.
- The running build number is now visible in the app, in the Hub and the About panel.
2.0.1
Released 2026-09-01
- Fixed a crash in the
tessen transcribeCLI command. - Raised the free-tier cap.
- Added a download counter and monitoring; hardened website build checks.
2.0.0
Released 2026-08-25
- Tessen's earlier architecture was retired. The app became a single, self-contained Swift binary.
